Tentatively opening on September 19, 2025

FAQ'S ABOUT The Farm

When is the farm open?

The farm opens tentatively this season September 19, 2025. Each year, our opening date depends on mother nature and how fast things grow! We are open on evenings and weekends, as well as during community events.

Is there an admission to Mert’s?

We don’t charge an admission fee to visit the pumpkin patch—except on special event days when we’re supporting local nonprofit organizations. On those days, we ask for a small admission fee, and 100% of admission proceeds go directly to the cause we’re featuring. It’s a fun way to give back while enjoying the patch!

What types of pumpkins are available?

There are pumpkins and gourds of different shapes, sizes, and colors. The colors range from classic orange to muted greens, whites and blues. Some are large and round, while others are smaller and more elongated or bumpy.  We have over 30 different types of pumpkin seeds planted. Also available are decorative corn, corn stalk bundles, hay bales, mums, and fall home decor.

What type of terrain is at the farm?

It wouldn’t be Mert’s without a little rock, a little dirt, and some weeds!  It is flat out in the pumpkin patch, but can be bumpy when rolling out there with your wheelbarrow. The parking lot and area around the building is rocked and there is a slight hill heading down to the patch (we had to add a lot of dirt to put the building on for the floodplain)!

Bottom line, it’s best to wear sturdy shoes.

Does the farm close when it’s raining?

If it is absolutely pouring down rain, we will be closed.  However, if the gates are open that means we are open to sell pumpkins.

Are dogs welcome?

We love furry friends, but our pumpkin patch is only pet-friendly during our special Dog Days at the Patch event! It’s a paws-itively fun day that supports Muddy Paws, a local nonprofit. The rest of the season, we kindly ask that pets sit this one out—thanks for understanding!

What should I bring with me when I visit the farm? What should I wear?

We encourage you to bring a wheelbarrow/yard cart & clippers- We do have a limited number of wheelbarrows and clippers on hand though for you to use.  Gloves can be good too- pumpkin vines can be prickly if you are out picking your own pumpkin!

Be prepared to dress for whatever the weather may bring- it’s Nebraska! Boots or closed toe shoes are usually a good bet though.

Are there restrooms available?

We have portable restrooms available with portable sinks.

Is Mert’s available to rent for a private gathering?

Yes, we do host small groups out at our farm. Please call or text Merritt at 402-203-2190 to get additional information.

What type of payments are accepted?

Cash is our preferred payment, but we also accept Venmo and credit cards.  We try to have all pricing listed around the patch so you can add as you go and tell us the total price when ready to check out, but of course we can also add it for you as well.
